Definition:

 

The Fast Track Musical Instrument Utilization Program is a concept that is developed to enjoy musical skills. If you are not using your musical skills or if you want to learn musical skills; this program is for you.

 

 

 

Purpose:

 

We want to put into use latent* music skills for the benefit of others: by taking courageous action (driven by unselfish acts). We will provide the resources, impetus and motivation for you to become a member.

 

 

Scope:

 

This program covers all musical instruments and voice.

 

 

If you take up this challenge your world may change; and the world of those around you. As a group – we may improve and bring peace and love to our individual worlds.

 

The Fast Track Musical Instrument Utilization Program was conceived in 2011 with a desire to change people’s lives and integrate their musical talents into the main stream of their daily activities. The other purpose is to give hope and a foundation for those who wish to learn a musical instrument. We describe these two groups as:

 

  1. The people who already know (how to play a musical instrument)
  2. The people who want to know (how to play a musical instrument)

I was just informed by a Fast Track Fiddler (#3): she uses her fiddle as a stress reliever; a way to take a break out of her fast and furious day.

 

Update: the other day, she took her fiddle out to calm her soul; and collect her thoughts. She said it is like a release. It helps her have a better perspective.

The Suzuki Method was conceived in the mid-20th century by Shin’ichi Suzuki, a Japanese violinist who desired to bring beauty to the lives of children in his country after the devastation of World War II. As a skilled violinist but a beginner at the German language who struggled to learn it, Suzuki noticed that children pick up their native language quickly, and even dialects adults consider “difficult” to learn are spoken with ease by people of 5 or 6 years. He reasoned that if children have the skill to acquire their mother tongue, then they have the necessary ability to become proficient on a musical instrument. He pioneered the idea that pre-school age children could learn to play the violin if learning steps were small enough and if the instrument was scaled down to fit their body. He modeled his method, which he called “Talent Education” (才能教育, sainō kyōiku?), after his theories of natural language acquisition. Suzuki believed that every child, if properly taught, was capable of a high level of musical achievement. He also made it clear that the goal of such musical education was to raise generations of children with “noble hearts” (as opposed to creating famous musical prodigies). Fast Track Musical Instrument Utilization Program has seen by providing the proper resources, encouragement and impetus people from all ages can learn. The individual I have mentioned in Case 1 study is learning Old Time Fiddle style at age 50.

 

The Suzuki method was first developed in Japan. It spread from there to other Pacific Rim countries, and then to Europe as well as Africa. Although it originally used the study of the violin to achieve its goals, it has also been adapted for other instruments: flute, recorder, piano, guitar, cello, viola, bass, organ, harp and voice. In addition, there are a few “Suzuki Preschools” which have adapted Suzuki’s philosophy to use in the non-musical disciplines of early childhood education. Fast Track Musical Instrument Utilization Program is being developed in Chandler Arizona. This technique encompasses all musical instruments and voice. Our vision is to introduce this technique – similar to the technological principle of open source (example: Joomla.org: Joomla is one of the world’ s most popular open source CMS ‘content management system’. 06.14.14 This principle of open sources was recently mentioned by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Electrical car motor company. He feels that providing an electric car; that is ‘without a patent’ – this unselfish act will drive this industry forward. We feel that pursuing this same method of ‘open source’ (many people contribute unselfishly; with great desire to improve this musical teaching method) will drive our Fast Track Musical Instrument and Voice Utilization Program with great momentum and sustainability.

 

 

Our desire is to provide an idea; a dream for others to develop a passion for music skills that can bring peace, excitement, fascination and development to our own worlds. Our intention is that this information be spread quickly; and we plan to provide the proper ingredients to give this technique long lasting sustenance.

Children are certainly welcome in the Fast Track Musical Instrument Utilization Program; however, our target market is busy adults who are looking for a chance to satisfy the six human needs:

 

  1. Contribution
  2. Growth
  3. significance
  4. Connection/ love
  5. the need for uncertainty/variety
  6. The need for Certainty

The central belief of Suzuki, based on his language acquisition theories, is that all people can (and will) learn from their environment. The essential components of his method spring from the desire to create the “right environment” for learning music (he believed that this positive environment would also help to foster excellent character in every student). These components include:

  • Saturation in the musical community, including attendance at local concerts of classical music, exposure to and friendship with other music students, and listening to music performed by “artists” (professional classical musicians of high caliber) in the home every day (starting before birth if possible).
  • Deliberate avoidance of musical aptitude tests or “auditions” to begin music study. Suzuki firmly believed that teachers who test for musical aptitude before taking students, or teachers who look only for “talented” students, are limiting themselves to people who have already started their music education. Just as every child is expected to learn their native language, Suzuki expected every child to be able to learn to play music well when they were surrounded with a musical environment from infancy. (This does not preclude auditions for public performances).
  • Emphasis on playing from a very young age, sometimes beginning formal instruction between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. (See Technique).
  • Using well trained teachers, preferably also trained in using the Suzuki materials and philosophy. Suzuki Associations all over the world offer ongoing teacher-training programs to prospective and continuing Suzuki teachers. A basic competency as a performer was recently made mandatory for all teachers in the American Association; the holding of a music degree is not required.
  • In the beginning, learning music by ear is emphasized over reading musical notation. This follows Suzuki’s observation that in language acquisition, a child learns to speak before learning to read. Related to this, memorization of all solo repertoire is expected, even after a student begins to use sheet music as a tool to learn new pieces. There is no formal plan or prescribed materials for introducing music theory & reading into the curriculum; this is left to the judgement of the teacher.
  • The method also encourages, in addition to individual playing, regular playing in groups (including playing in unison).
  • Retaining and reviewing every piece of music ever learned on a regular basis, in order to raise technical and musical ability. Review pieces, along with “preview” parts of music a student is yet to learn, are often used in creative ways to take the place of the more traditional etude books. Traditional etudes and technical studies are not used in the beginning stages, which focus almost exclusively on a set of performance pieces.
  • Frequent public performance, so that performing is natural and enjoyable.

Appendix:

 

The principle: in order to use it (your musical skill) – you must have it (your musical instrument – with you and ready to utilize); relates to a finance principle of return on investment. If we make any investment (including our time) we desire to seek a return on investment. By carrying your instrument with you at all times (having your musical skill in good condition and ready to perform) – this will allow you to seek a greater return on your investment (the investment you have made into your instrument and the investment of time you have made ‘learning to make music on your instrument – or sing with your voice’). In my opinion – the investment in your musical talent ‘learning to make music on your instrument – or sing with your voice’ is the biggest and most important investment.

We are currently in the process of conducting surveys (with VIPs ‘within our path of travel); asking a series of questions:

 

  1. Have you ever played a musical instrument some time in the past?
  2. Have your children played a musical instrument some time in the past?
  3. Has your spouse played a musical instrument some time in the past?
  4. Have your siblings played a musical instrument some time in the past?
  5. When the musical talent was exercised– was this an enjoyable experience?

 

We are documenting our interviews. There is an overwhelming amount of data that represents a large percentage of our interviewees have had ‘people within their circle of influence’ (themselves in many instances) which have had a good experience playing a musical instrument in the past.

 

The underlying theme ‘why these people don’t utilize their musical talent any longer’ is this: if you don’t use it – you lose it. We find that people lose their talent because there is no need to use their talents. By bringing forward the principles of unselfishness and courage we have found we can teach people how to utilize their talents. Our desire is to teach people how to integrate their musical talents into the main stream of their daily activities (so they don’t lose it).

 

The other purpose is to give hope and a foundation for those who wish to learn a musical instrument. We will provide the resources, impetus and motivation for you to become a member.

Last night was a huge first ‘in developing this Fast Track Music concept’. We provided financial resources to rent a fiddle for six months for a young person whom wishes to learn how to play fiddle. In six months – if we see forward progress – we will consider making a purchase ‘of this instrument’ for her. Our main focus with this program is to teach sustainable methods to ‘use the music talents – and not lose them’. We feel accountability is important at the beginning for people to see the value. No pain – to gain. This possibility was made possible by Fast Track Fiddler #1. Because Fast Track Fiddler #1 is experiencing great benefit from this Fast Track Music approach – he is destined to pass on this concept.

Here is a resource that I wish to provide all musicians in the Phoenix, Arizona region who wish to get together with other musicians and share their musical talents (we call this jamming).

on Thursday nights beginning at 6:30 PM. You are welcome to attend. It is not a bad idea to call and request a seat at this event ‘and discover specific directions to our jamming location’. Often times food is provided (donations are accepted). If you want to have the experience of a horse ride in the beautiful Arizona desert; we can arrange this for a small fee.

It is because of the unselfish nature of Don Donnelly’s D-Spur Ranch Riding Stables owner (a female owned company) that we now have Fast Track fiddler #4 (fully engaged).

Fast Track Fiddler #4; her father may begin participating in Fast Track guitar playing. We wish to include many others.

In our opinion; having a place to meet in community with other musician ‘and practice your talent’ on a regular basis – is an important part of our Fast Track Music concept. Our wish is that others will become members and help us to disseminate this type of information; so others can get quickly involved in establishing sustainable Fast Track Musical principles (in their lives).

To be frank; I am very pleased with the initial response to this program. We hope many others will join us; come forward and stake your claim to own this approach. There is room for all instruments and voices – all over the world.

Our intention is to allow this concept to develop as it will.

Last night a new Fast Track Musician joined our ranks. This person has shown tenacity learning the mandolin. She is engaged learning this instrument to add value to her life (and her business ‘she is in the entertainment industry’) and to add value to others. This individual has already provided great contribution and value to our Fast Track music approach. There now is five fully engaged Fast Track Musicians. I performed with Fast Track Fiddler #2 at Gold Canyon Golf Resort (6100 S KINGS RANCH ROAD, GOLD CANYON, Arizona). We performed three songs: Amazing Grace, Dixie and Ashoken Farewell ( http://www.jayandmolly.com/ashokanfaq.shtml). My role was to support her. This experience was the onus** of my Fast Track objective. In a word WOW.

Where is our group headed? We will begin publishing Raymond Scipts (which reveal the finger positions of specific songs) with accompanying You Tube videos showing the performance of each song (slow and at regular tempo). Our first song will be Ashoken Farewell( http://www.jayandmolly.com/ashokanfaq.shtml). As I understand; in an Old Time Fiddle Contest this will be considered a ‘tune of choice’. More to follow.
